Program Note
 

We follow the tale of a sleepless night, filtering through a child's nightmare, sleep paralysis, and eventual consumption by the nightmare. The program 'Pre-Show' begins with an aleatoric performance by the front ensemble and electronics, setting the stage for a child climbing into bet and hearing spooky noises in their bedroom before they fall asleep.

We transition into the opener with a lullaby played by the front ensemble, but things don't go as planned. The child falls into a nightmare and is chased around by the guard and various sections in the band. They wake during the ballad and experience sleep paralysis and the spooky visions dancing around their room. The drum feature lulls the child back to sleep and into the nightmare once again, and is consumed by fear at the end of the program.
